Police battles Bobi Wine as he takes campaigns to Kyenjojo

Police in Kyenjojo, a district in the Western part of Uganda, has fired teargas to disperse a procession led by the National Unity Platform President Robert Kyagulanyi, into Kyenjojo District.

Kyagulanyi, who is also an aspiring Presidential candidate is on trail to unseat President Yoweri Museveni.

He earlier today, engaged in battles with the Uganda Police Force in Kyegegwa, to hold a campaign rally.

He was later set free. However, as he left Kyegegwa for Kyenjoyo, all in Tooro Kingdom, Police halted his procession towards Kyenjojo town council.

A number of his supporters were left injured while several couldn’t breathe, with a measure of teargas fired at his campaign team.

Many of the supporters dispersed. Kyagulanyi later told the media that also, his campaign venue has been changed from the town to a rural area.

Battles between the campaign team and Police still continue.

Kyagulanyi was last Friday released by the Iganga Magistrates courts after spending more than 48 hours under custody. He is said to have violated the Standard Operating Procedures set by Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of Covid 19 during elections.
