Vipers SC seek early advantage as they host Al Hilal in CAF tie

Vipers SC will be looking victory when they take on Sudanese giants Al Hilal in the first leg of their CAF Champions League tie at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday.

 The Venoms who are at home in the first leg of the CAF Champions League Preliminary round and will hope to use this in their advantage as they attempt to secure passage to the next round.

The match comes at almost nine months without any football action in the country after Uganda Star Times premier league was cancelled following national lockdown to combat the spread of Covid 19.

The lack of competitive action for a lengthy period will prove a hurdle for Fred kajoba’s side taking on an experienced Al Hilal side that is a constant fixture in the group stages of the continental biggest football showpiece for the clubs

 This is the Venoms third attempt to reach the lucrative group stage of the competition after falling in both 2016 and 2018. In 2016, they lost 2-1 against Nigerian side Enyimba before they were eliminated at the first round in 2018 by CS Constantine of Algeria
