Traders dealing in fish by products under their umbrella the Uga-Fish By Products Association, have decried theft of their money after owners of United sea food Uganda (U) Ltd made off with over Shs 100 million which they had deposited to purchase fish by products from the company.
Kakeeto Godfrey the chairperson of the association says the company that operates at Port Bell road Luzira made off with over shs 100 million since every trader was being asked to pay from shs6 million to 20 million belonging to over 15 traders.
“The traders deposited large amounts of money to the company to purchase fish by products like fish mow among others but it closed without informing the traders and the owners disappeared in thin air. When the traders go there now, they are told its under new management and they can’t be helped” he said
Kakeeto says they have written to the Uganda Fish Processors and Exporters Association to follow up on what happened to the company to ensure the traders recover their money but are yet to get any assistance.
By the time of publication of this story efforts to get comments from the United sea Food Uganda Ltd were futile since there known contacts were switched off
