Top Reverend flies to US in fear of being arrested over Bobi Wine 18 missing supporters

Luwero based Reverend has escaped from Uganda and ran to United States of America (USA) fearing to be arrested by security operatives working under Ugandan security organizations who have been accusing him of hiding one of the supporters of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine), the National Unity Platform (NUP) president.

Reverend Patrick Nsimbe 45, a critic of president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s government who has been serving at St John’s Church Of Uganda (COU) Namaliga – Bombo in Luwero district is alleged to have helped John Ddamulira who was believed to be Bobi Wine’s diehard to escape from Mukono Police Station.

Ddamulira had been arrested with 17 others including John Bosco Kibalama whose whereabouts also lies in balance.

“For over a month before he escaped to the US, fearing to be arrested, abducted or killed, my old close religious friend has been complaining of persistent telephone calls from security operatives asking him of the whereabouts of one John Ddamulira. Security operatives claim that the man of God assisted Ddamulira to escape from Mukono police, which is false, “a close associate to Nsimbe told us.
Other NUP supportors on the run include Namatovu Margret, Tebandeke Andrew and Nakimbugwe Winfred of Wakiso and Lungujja Lubaga division respectively.

However, Lyton Nsimbe Nakakawa, wife of Reverend Nsimbe declined to comment for fear of consequences.

“I have not seen him for the last two weeks and I have no comment to that effects,” those were the only words from the sobbing Nakakawa.

Another close family friend of the man of God who also preferred anonymity given the sensitivity of the matter explained to this online paper that Nsimbe’s arrest was tipped to him by one security operative following Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) report which declared the 18 missing persons as baseless, which shocked the whole nation.

“Nsimbe told me days before his escape that since late 2019 he has been closely following the arrests of opposition members, and saw harrowing accounts of blood – stained photos sprinkled on social media from the notorious forms of torture of those arrested by security operatives. He told me that he had no option but to free for the safety of his life”, added Nsimbe’s friend.

Mathias Mpuuga, the ex-Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Parliament and his team in October started to visit each of the 18 families whose loved ones disappeared in the last four years to generate a recollection of events.

LOP’s team visited the family of Ddamulira in Mukono District who reportedly went missing in November 2020 after armed men abducted him.

The former LOP says some of the other affected families have started to report intimidation from the police and other security personnels who are making frantic contact with relatives of the missing persons in a bid to cover up or conceal the truth.
