Spenah beach’s John Asiimwe evicted from rented premises

The Aviation Police has provided security to oversee the eviction of embattled Spenah beach tenant Mr John Asiimwe from the registered land owner Mr Steven Kabuye’s property following a High court ruling.

Mr Kabuye’s lawyer, Mr Paul Kenneth Kakande from Alaka and Co Advocates during the eviction on thursday revealed they had recently got a court order in form of a court injunction which prevented the former tenant Spenah Beach from interfering with the quiet possession of the registered proprietor.

On Friday the High Court at Kampala (Land Division) chaired by Assistant Registrar His Worship Kintu Simon Zirintusa granted the registered landlord an Order of Injunction against Mr John Asiimwe and all his agents from trespassing on the property which protects the former and allows him repossess his property in peace.

Mr Kakande said Mr Asiimwe who owed more than Shs 200 million in rent arrears will pay for his client’s costs as ordered by the court last Friday.

Mr Steven Sebugwawo the LC 1 chairman Bugonga said the eviction went on peacefully without any interruption like in the past two incidents where soldiers from the Uganda People’s Defence Airforce and Special Forces Command interrupted the eviction process on two occasions respectively.

In a letter dated 26th October 2022, signed on his behalf by Erasmus Twaruhukwa, the IGP Martins Okoth Ochola directed the Commandant Aviation Police to ensure that the registered land proprietor or his agents have unrestricted access, usage and occupation of the premises as ordered by court.
