Social Media outrage forces Entebbe Zoo to change Lion Sculpture at Victoria Mall

The Uganda Wildlife Conservation and Education Center – UWEC has been forced to change the Lion Sculpture instituted at Victoria Mall along the Kampala Entebbe Road.

The Institution, in one of it’s marketing strategies instituted sculptures of wild animals as part of education, conservation and promotion of the adventure within the country.

However, over the weekend, social media was awash of a sculpture of a lion that was instituted at Victoria Mall.

Ugandans especially on the Entebbe Municipality Facebook page said, the Lion Sculpture was poorly drawn and wasn’t worth being instituted in the place.

The social media critiques also asked the team at UWEC to start hiring competent artists to draw and mould the sculptures for a better way to promote the country.

On Monday evening however, the UWEC team replaced the old sculpture with another that seemed better and more advanced.

The team which arrived at Victoria Mall on Monday evening was seen uprooting the sculpture that was instituted and replaced with a yellowish Lion sculpture.

“Actually this is better. The one instituted earlier was fake and didn’t deserve to be there,” a cyclist was over heard mentioning.

The Uganda Wildlife Conservation and Education Center Dr. James Musinguzi, in a conversation with this writer said, the Institution values feedback and such acts to rectify and make Institutional work better.
