A second person has been shot dead by security operative’s along Entebbe road as the Free Bobi Wine demonstrations enter the third day as tensions rise in one of the most protected areas in the country, Entebbe municipality which has nine military barracks.
According to eyewitnesses a Local Defence Unit soldier who was patrolling with the Uganda Policemen Nkumba Bufulu village located in Katabi Town Council adjacent to Entebbe Municipality, shot dead Mr Alex Mugasha a builder who was returning to his home after getting supper from one of the local restaurants in the area.
Security operatives had been called in the area to keep order in the area where protests had broken out on Thursday evening around 8pm over the arrest of National Unity Platform presidential aspirant Mr Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine.
Residents who preferred anonymity said the combined security forces who were firing live ammunition Knocked on peoples doors looking for the protesters, shot the deceased five times.
A tense mood reigned over Nkumba Bufulu on Friday morning as police picked the deceased body and transported it to Mulago City mortuary for postmortem.
This follows the killing of one Abubaker Lubowa Kato a taxi driver who was shot dead at Namulanda along Entebbe road by an LDU officer on Wednesday, the first day of the demonstrations.
When contacted for comment on the issue Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire said he was not yet aware of what had transpired but was going to contact the area DPC.
