RDC, Youth Leader accused of replacing Island residents with relatives for Presidential Skilling

Several youths in the island district of Kalangala have accused Resident District Commissioner Ms Juliet Najjuma Ssenkoole and the District Youth Chairperson Aloysius Ssegawa of replacing island residents supposed to be taken for Presidential Skilling initiatives with friends and relatives.
The beneficiaries were supposed to leave the island district for skilling this week. However, on double checking the list of names selected by the RDC, Youth Chairperson and the Women League Chairperson Josephine Namulindwa, the selected were residents of Lyantonde, Masaka, Mbarara, Kalungu, Mukono and other neighboring Districts.
The selected include Ms Namulondo Sarah, Joel Ssenyonga, Musafaru Nsubuga, Darlen Atukwase, Richard Kyeyune, Esther Kobusingye, Sharifah Nakitto, Gala Gadafi, Eric Mugenyi Anthony Agaba, Matia Lwanga, Charles Okodi, Ratib Ssegawa, Catherine Nantongo, Timothy Nsubuga, Charles Ssejjonzi, Ivan Muwonge, Catherine Nandegeya, Safiina Nakasagga, Teopista Nanziri, Richard Ssentongo, Paul Kayemba and Kawuma Moses.
The beneficiaries only included four island residents while others were gotten from as far as Mbarara and Mukono, replacing residents from the seven sub counties that make up the district.
Upon realizing the abnormally, the ONC (Office of the National Chairperson – NRM) coordinator for Bujumba County Ms Harriet Namisango immediately raised an uproar against the illegality. She also tried to intervene, asked to look for natives “Unfortunately, we did everything within our realm. However, the RDC and her team settled on the fake list and took them to represent Kalangala on Wednesday morning.”
The RDC also negotiated to take more people from Kalangala by Friday, after the intervention of other security team members who were hoodwinked into signing a fake unverified list which she didn’t claiming she had gotten sick and left Kalangala district prior to settling the issue.
A district leader who asked not to be named shared with this website the valid list of people supposed to go to the skilling initiative taking place Ndegeya, Masaka District wondered why the leader has for long a time chosen to deviate from honesty.
“She is involved in this, that and bringing the office of the President to disrepute. How do you take people from other District and yet you have the people who yearn for real skilling in the islands being left out? Something needs to be done.” The leader said.
It has been established that upon realizing her mistake, the RDC called the remaining islanders at the District Headquarters to be taken and disappeared, leaving the residents stranded without means of transport to go back home.
This website tried to reach the RDC for a comment. However, Ms Najjuma could not pick our repeated calls for a comment. Aloysius Ssegawa, the District Youth Chairperson when contacted said, it is not true that islanders did not attend the skilling initiatives.
The skilling initiative is meant to help the young people across the country acquire technical skills for self-employment.
