Rakai District Education Officer Stephen Ssemutono Passes On
The Academia, technocrats, sports addicts and Political leaders in Rakai District and Masaka Region are mourning for the death of Mr. Stephen Ssemutono, the Rakai District Education Officer who passed on Monday, 2nd September, 2024.
The News of Mr. Ssemutono’s death was poured on greater Masaka social media platforms on Monday afternoon after his last breath at Nsambya Hospital.
This website has learnt from friends of the deceased Educationist that his death was caused by constipation health issues that sparked his abdominal operation recently.
“The family is still working with Nsambya Hospital to sort out the medical bills as burial arrangements will be communicated after.” A friend told this website
Mr. Stephen Ssemutono was the Rakai District Education Officer and Director Heritage of St. Steven Primary School Kisosso, Masaka City. He was the Sports officer for Masaka Catholic Diocese, an Actor and Brass Music Director.
He was a former Head teacher of Nabbunga Fountain of Education Kalisizo, Kabuwoko Boys Primary School, St. Paul Primary School Kitovu Masaka and former inspector of Schools for Kyotera District.
Rotarian Lubowa Ssebina Gyaviira, the Director of Lubowa Ssebina Foundation said greater Masaka has lost a committed leader and sportsman.
“It’s a pity that we have lost Dr Ssemutono at such a time. As a Patron of UNF Zone 14 (Greater Masaka ), I have worked with him on matters of Education and Sports (specifically Netball) and I can confirm that Greater Masaka has lost a committed leader and sportsman. We will miss him dearly.” Rotarian Lubowa Ssebina said.
Hon. Rose Nalubowa, the former Deputy Pookino and former chairperson of Kyotera District Service Commission and a Professional teacher said the Education fraternity will dearly miss Mr. Ssemutono’s efforts as a great teacher, Music trainer and sportsman that has worked for Masaka sub region throughout his entire lifetime.
He multi talented Educationist and Scout was admitted to Nsambya Hospital for nearly a month and was put on dialysis and life support.
Recently, his family and friends started a fundraising drive to raise financial support for his hospital bills that were mounting but God hasn’t saved his life.
