Celebrating birthdays for relatively rich people today comes with pomp and glamour. Each and everyone wants to show off how rich they are and what they can afford.
In fact, some people, sometimes buy gifts for themselves and their loved ones to celebrate the attainment of a new age.
However, this wasn’t the case for the Central Youth Member of Parliament, Agnes Kirabo who was celebrating her birthday yesterday, Monday.
Barely three years as a legislator, the MP chose to celebrate her new age at a health facility, with a number of the less privileged and the needy.
The MP visited Luwero General Hospital where she donated a number of assorted items to the vulnerable including pregnant mothers and people living with HIV/AIDS.
Amongst the items donated to the vulnerable are those supposed to be used during pregnancy and those for domestic use and food.
The MP noted a number of challenges faced by the facility including the limited drugs deliberated at the facility, limited staffing and low infrastructure despite the high turn up from the greater Luwero region which includes the districts of Nakasongola, Nakaseke and Luwero.
Also there is need for an ambulance for which Kirabo committed to work with the District Health Committee to address the issue with the Ministry of Health.
“I encouraged patients to continue being positive and adhering to medical recommendations. I supported the patients with soap, basins, food and mama kits,” Kirabo said.
It is not the first time the MP is donating to the people of Luwero. It is alleged, she hopes to contest as an MP in the area, in the forth coming elections.
