Party Primaries on demand, NRM overwhelmed by numbers

Over 2000 aspirants had collected nomination forms from the Electoral Commission offices of the ruling party, National Resistance Movement – NRM before the deadline day.

With a majority of them seeking legislative spots under the NRM party, the primaries are bound to be as tight as possible.

With many more others expected to flock offices if the National Electoral Commission approves the newly proposed constituencies.

Each Legislative position with at least 5 aspirants that seek to attain the party’s blessing in the 2021 election.

However several candidates have started returning there nomination forms and a few others expected to complete the exercise by 20th August 2020 without fail.

Several new names have joined the race such as Kyamuswa Constituency’s Keitira Brian and Entebbe municipality’s Shayka Stephen Gashaija.

Entebbe Municipality NRM MP flag bearer race has about 9 NRM aspirants, including incumbent Rose Tumusiime, Madina Zzalwango and a host of others.

Elsewhere, the Democratic Party faces undue influence from the DP bloc that defected to the National Unity Platform -NUP, hence leaving their nomination and primaries in a catastrophic standstill .

And the Forum for Democratic Change is sharing somewhat a similar fate with several stalwart members such as Kasiano Wadri and Winnie Kiiza defecting to Mugisha Muntu’s Alliance for National Transformation.

But anyway Uganda People’s Congress-UPC is vivid because of its battle with NUP over colour.
