There is looming panic at Entebbe Police station as an officer attached to directorate of minerals is said to have tested positive of Covid19. The police officer whose identity can not be revealed, traveled back from Mubende where he’s said to have interacted with victims of the novel Coronavirus disease.
“Upon his return to Entebbe station, he started feeling unstable hence disclosed to his supervisors of how he had traveled to Covid19 prone area,” revealed a source within Police.
“When his results were out and found to be positive, all his contacts, including fellow officers who had extracted a statement from him; were advised to self-quarantine pending their results from the Uganda Virus Research Institute,” added another source.
However, when contacted, Patrick Onyango the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson said, results of the police officer are yet to be released. “Meanwhile, the other officers attached to the minerals directorate who got in contact with the main suspect, were advised to self-quarantine from respective homes pending their medical results,” noted Onyango.
Emmanuel Ainebyona the Ministry of Health spokesperson was not available for a comment since our repeated phone-calls went unanswered. The minerals police block which is adjacent to Entebbe main police station, remains closed.
