Dansul Limited Proprietor-Daniel Sullivan has been arrested and detained at Entebbe Police station in connection to the building that collapsed in Kitinda, Kitubulu Katabi Sub county along Entebbe Road.
After the collapse of the building on Sunday 19th 2020 at a construction site close to former Ssese Gateway beach, new details have emerged. According to Entebbe DPC Micheal Kasigire, the injured persons have been admitted to Kisubi Hospital and all medical bills must be met by the company (Meera Investments).
The Construction site is believed to be owned by Meera Investments which is owned by Ugandan Businessman Sudhir Ruparelia.
The Police have been able to secure samples of the building materials and taken to the Government Analytical Laboratory for analysis. These materials are believed to be substandard thus causing the building to crumble.
The numbers of the injured persons still stand at 19 people, but a search party is being mounted to find missing workers, excavators are still digging up the debris with hope to recover bodies.
Police immediately apprehended 4 site supervisors who are of Indian origin and were later released on bond. However the site engineer(s) are still on the lose but hopefully will be brought to book.
It is also alleged that the contractors used sub-standard materials in a ploy to make a higher profit but they couldn’t pull it off, with injuries sustained not only by the workers but to their profile too.
