Netizens bash Ministry of Health after it halts Covid 19 vaccination to Prep Kololo for Museveni address

Ugandans have taken to social media to bash the ministry of health after it’s Spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyona announced a halt to the ongoing Covid 19 vaccination exercise at kololo independence grounds to prepare for President Museveni’s State of the Nation Address on Sunday.

“COVID-19 Vaccination at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds halted as the Grounds are being prepared for the State of the Nation Address. @MinofHealthUG will communicate accordingly” the ministry’s publicists tweeted on Wednesday.

However, the news of the halting of the vaccination exercise that started on Monday has not gone down well with Ugandans who are bashing the ministry for disregarding Ugandan’s lives in preference for a speech which in their view can be delivered from other areas like state house.

Below are some of the responses to the ministry’s announcement;

 “Irony is that the address will focus on covid-19. Other available options are City square, Sheraton gardens, impis grounds Makerere university, Railway gardens, UMA upper grounds among others. The unavailability of Kololo shouldn’t be an excuse” @Geria_Emma tweeted.

 “So, a State of the Nation address is important than a vaccination activity that’s intended to save lives? While a SoTN can delivered virtually, can vaccines be delivered virtually, too? What kind of spirits possession you people?” @WesleyKambale another tweep lashed out at the ministry.

Timothy Kirimanyi, another disappointed Ugandan tweeted, “When you realize your health is less ‘importanter’ than the rhetorical #SONA, how about he speaks from state house, better still @MinofHealthUG HQ to emphasize the peril of covid19”

“Wow! U guys never cease to amaze ! U decided to stop the vaccination Syringe simply b cos tibu is gona address about covid! What do u guys smoke! What kind of nyokery is this?? Just come clean and tell the masses that the vaccine is done! We ain’t fools” saeed barghash kaddu tweeted.

Byaruhanga, wrote, “Of a national address and people’s lives what’s the nation’s priority? This country needs serious people to run it”

 “@MinofHealthUG Like REALLY!! the stae of the nation address is more important than the citizens health? Can’t he address the nation in his house?” @UgWitness tweeted.

Abandoned Muzukulu on twitter wrote, “ So saving people’s lives is not a preference in relation to the so called ” state of nation” which is of no use but spending tax payers money”

Although ministry of healths’s Ainebyona didn’t mention the exact date when the vaccination will resume, one message he definitely put across is that President Museveni will this Sunday address the country from Kololo independence grounds on the way forward following a task force meeting yesterday, Wednesday, June 2nd.
