Mukula fails to convince Entebbe NRM leaning independent candidates out of Mayoral, MP races

NRM National vice chairperson for the Eastern has failed to convince Ms Rose Tumusiime, the current MP for Entebbe Municipality and loser in the NRM primaries and Mr Fabrice Rulinda the loser in the NRM Mayoral primaries out of the 2021 races for the respective political positions.

Ms Tumusiime lost to Shyaka Gasaija in the MP race while Rulinda lost to Mike Kabwama Mutebi Nyamayaalwo in the Entebbe Municipality mayoral race.

Mukula after the meeting in Kampala remained optimistic that if discussions continue, there he would be successful in harmonizing the NRM party positions and candidates.

“The NRM internal discussions and reconciliation still ongoing, I had excellent discourse with the current MP Entebbe Municipality Rose Tumusiime and NRM leaning mayoral candidate Fabrice (Rulinda). We are making excellent progress.” Mukula said in the tweet.

Both candidates surprised voters when they turned up for nomination at the Wakiso EC office even after Ms Tumusiime had accepted the results and vowed to follow NRM guidelines.

Sources close to both candidates have told Entebbe Post that both candidates are not willing to leave the race saying, the NRM primaries were highly monetized and had several other irregularities.

The NRM leadership has since September been engaging the different candidates who lost primaries, not to contest as independents in a bid to secure wins for the party flag bearers.
