Mukono’s Muyanja Ssenyonga drops NRM for NUP
Former Mukono Municipality Mayor Johnson Muyanja Ssenyonga has finally joined the National Unity Platform.
The former NRM Stalwart, who previously served as the Member of Parliament for Mukono South Constituency, made a decision and was unveiled before the press on Thursday afternoon.
He was overthrown from the Constituency by Fred Kayondo of the Democratic Party in 2021.
His decision to join NUP was informed by the ever growing dissent within Mukono South Constituency.
“He believes in winning, not being a member of any party,” one of his supporters said.
He previously served as the Chairperon of the Buganda Parliamentary Caucas in the 10th Parliament.
His decision has however been met with anger from the NRM Leaders in Mukono.
He now wants to renew his quest to win Mukono South Constituency in 2026 on the NUP ticket. He now has to tussle out with Wilson the current flag bearer.
