Minister Kasolo launches President’s Wealth and Job Creation Initiative(EMYOOGA)

Over 500 saving groups are to benefit from the Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job creation dubbed EMYOOGA through the Ministry of Finance and the Microfinance Support Centre in Entebbe Sub-District with multitudes having benefited across several regions of the country.

While laying the foundation for the project in Wakiso District Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo has indicated that Emyooga is geared towards fostering a saving culture within Ugandans, with special focus on small business owners, professionals and special interest groups.

Without saving one can not get rid, we want our people to save for themselves and get genuine wealth. Uganda has a lot of business potential that is not explored, with saving and simple loans our people can be able to get out of poverty.

The groups are to be organised into SACCOs of about 30 persons in a similar trade and will receive UGX 30 Million to boost and compliment there capacity to save once they start saving.

The identified groups to benefit from this massive project include Market Vendors, Elderly, Local Leaders, Journalits, Taxi Operators, Bodaboda riders, carpenters, and other groups(SACCOs).

The groups are to be organised from Parish levels to Constituencies and monitored by the political leadership including the Mayor, Parish Chairpersons, RDCs and technocrats.

The ceremony was graced by Entebbe Municipality MP Rose Tumusiime, Entebbe Mayor Vincent Kayanja, Wakiso RDC Kirabira and Entebbe RDC Hajji Njuki
