Let’s Seek God’s Intervention to Fight Corona Virus – Wakiso’s Bwanika

Wakiso District Chairperson Matia Lwanga Bwanika has called for God’s intervention to fight COVID 19, a pandemic the world is struggling to control.

Bwanika has been visiting Abaita Ababiri Market to ascertain readiness and awareness of vendors on how to prevent spread of the disease.

Uganda has not received any patient with the virus since it broke out in Wuhan a city in China. More than 6000 people have died after contracting the virus in several countries including the United States, Italy and the United Kingdom.

While inspecting the market on Friday evening, Bwanika noted that there is need for further awareness on the kind of sanitizers to be used in the prevention of the virus spread.

“I have established that currently, people are using Jik to wash hands yet there is are better sanitizers. We need to help people understand the best products to use so as to strengthen all prevention measures,” Bwanika says.

He however tasked market dwellers that with the lack of basic research on how to treat the Virus, Ugandans ought to seek guidance from God on how to prevent selves from acquisition of the corona virus.

On Friday morning, Police and authorities in Katabi town council halted trade by outdoor market vendors around Abaita Ababiri, in a bid to implement a directive the President that denies all Ugandans access to large crowds which are termed as most at risk activities that would easily lead to Corona Virus spread.

Ibrahim Ssemakula, the chairperson of the Market vendors in an interview with Entebbe Post indicated that all vendors have agreed to implement measures including the hand washing mechanism to all people entering the market to avoid the spread of the virus.

“We only need collective responsibility to ensure that we are all safe,” Ssemakula says.
