In a meeting held at Entebbe Police station on Wednesday, LDU officers admitted to have engaged in assaulting George-William Kakooza of CBS radio and BBS TV before walking away with his Mobile Phone and recorder.
The LDU officers including Edrisa Kayizi, Paul Luyima, Swaleh Mande, Difas Kizza and John Awole agreed to compensate the stolen gadgets of the assaulted Journalist.
Kakooza who was assaulted by the said officers in June this year, reported a case of assault and simple robbery at Entebbe Police station vide SD Ref 11/03/06/2020. The case was closely monitored by the Human Rights Network for Journalists (HRNJ-Uganda.
In the presence of Diana Nandudu a lawyer working under HRNJ-Uganda, LDU officers begged to compensate the stolen gadgets in two installments before September this year.
Kakooza was assaulted by the reported LDU officers on his way back home, from official duties.
