Kakwenza Rukirabashaija, author of “The Greedy Barbarian” was on Friday morning whisked away from his home in Iganga, Eastern Uganda by security operatives.
According to the Dr Kizza Besigye, the former leader of the Forum for Democratic Change, a party Rukirabashaija subscribes to, operatives from the Chieftancy of Military Intelligence whisked the journalist away “Up to now, his whereabouts remain unknown.” Besigye said.
Currently, Rukirabashaija’s lawyers have started a process of applying for an order of court, compelling the security operatives to produce him in court, dead or alive.
It is not the first time Rukirabashaija is arrested. He was in April this year arrested by security personnel in Iganga but later bailed out by court. his charges were later dismissed by court in Iganga due to lack of evidence.
Sources say, his arrest and detention relation to his publication “The Greedy Barbarian” which is said to be a story about the current Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
