Jinja Nile Zulus win big to set up thrilling National Lacrosse League finale

The Jinja Nile Zulus put up a spirited performance to win their two games during match day 5 in the Uganda National Lacrosse League that saw them move to third place in the table with 12 points three behind table leaders Blink Kobs.

The Jinja Nile Zulus saw off FCA Warriors with a 17-13 score and in their last match Buroni Panthers 13- 17 respectively to give them a chance at the title against the two league leaders Blink Kobs and FCA Warriors in the Grand finale this Saturday at MUBS play grounds.

In the other games played over the weekend, the Blink Kobs made a remarkable leap from 3rd to 1st place after a hard-fought victory against MUBS Men’s team with a score of 13-11.

According to the President Uganda Lacrosse Association Mr Liberty Twesiime, the exceptional performance of the players in this year’s National Lacrosse League is a boost for the country as the Uganda National Lacrosse team steps up it’s preparations to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

“Its glorious, its quite a moment to live for, the players are up there when it comes to the skill sets, they have been watching a lot of lacrosse online, most of them have also had opportunities to travel and play in Kenya, Rwanda and on the national team, what we have here is a cocktail of the best Lacrosse that can’t be played anywhere else other than Uganda if it comes to Africa” he said.

Thrilling Grand finale fixtures 25/May/2024

The grand finale that will be held this Saturday at MUBS play grounds will see fourth placed Buroni Panthers at 9 points take on MUBS Men who sit at the bottom of the table with Zero points in the day’s first game expected to have a showdown of epic proportions as both teams will play their best to earn points and move up the table at 10am.

This will be followed by a highly anticipated match between table leaders Blink Kobs with 15 points taking on second placed FCA Warriors who are level on points with Kobs and only separated by a slight goal difference of 7 goals is expected to showcase a display of skill and determination to see who takes the ultimate lead at the top of the table at 11 am.

The third match will see bottom placed MUBS Men take on reenergised Jinja Nile Zulus who are third on the table with 12 points and hope to upset the two table leaders at mid day.

FCA Warriors John Brian Mukaga leads the top scorers with 49 goals followed by MUBS Men’s Owen Waluku at 45 goals and Buroni Panthers’ Liberty Twesiime at 41 goals.
