The Inter Religious Council (IRC) launched 2 distribution centres today in Entebbe and Katabi Town Council led by Bishop Joshua Lwere. The points are at Faith Power Centre Kitoro and Life church Kawuku.
The Council availed themselves to assist in the food distribution nationwide since the novel corona virus pandemic took over affairs in Uganda forcing a partial lockdown.
The IRC has so far recorded success in Kampala and Wakiso with over 3000 families benefitting from the distribution of perishable items including Milk, fresh food produce and maize flour that have been donated to the National Covid19 Task Force.
Bishop Joshua Lwere who as well sits on the COVID Fund Committee is very confident that the IRC is doing an excellent job on saving the donated food relief from perishing from the stores before reaching the right beneficiaries.
The outspoken Bishop told Entebbe Post that they have been able to cover areas like Busukuma, Ndejje, Masajja, Kajjansi and Makindye Sabagabo and he hopes that they can get to everyone in need urgently.
Bishop Lwere unmasked plans to extend relief immediately to the people affected by the terrible floods in Kasese that have claimed a number of lives.
Entebbe RDC Hajji Noor Njuki Mbabali was also present and on behalf of the National COVID Task Force reassured Ugandans that the government relief will soon get go them and encouraged the locals to observe curfew and refrain from all activities that may violate the set precautions.
