Golfing star Deco gets boost with Aviator Africa, NuMax Cinemas sponsorship
Ahead of the 19th Johnnie Walker Uganda Professionals Open, Herman ‘Deco’ Mutebi announced a new sponsorship partnership with The Aviator Africa and NuMax Cinemas on Monday, 26 August 2024.
Deco, one of Uganda’s promising professional golfers, unveiled the new sponsorship worth shillings 22 million at a press conference held at NuMax Cinemas at Victoria Mall, Entebbe.
The sponsorship will provide Deco with financial support necessary to cover various expenses, including apparel and equipment, green fees, accommodation, feeding, caddie fees, travel expenses, promotional materials, media management and performance bonus.
The 19th Johnnie Walker Uganda Professionals Open will be held from September 2 to 8, 2024, at the Entebbe Golf Club.
‘Deeply grateful for the support’
“I am deeply grateful to be part of Deco’s journey for the support. This partnership will allow me to focus on my game and perform to the best of my abilities at the Uganda Professionals Open,” Deco said, adding that he had been hitting balls on a daily and turning in some Impressive scores.
Now with the sponsorship, Deco said it was “going to make me literally sleep on the course, but I know I have to take it easy on myself. I am determined to make my sponsors, home course gallery and my country proud.”
Deco’s manager, Innocent Ndawula said the sponsorship marks a significant milestone in Deco’s career. He thanked The Aviator Africa and NuMax for their confidence in Deco’s potential.
“This partnership will not only provide financial backing, but also inspiration to achieve greatness on the golf course. May the actions of these two sponsors go a long way in awakening the sleeping giants in other corporate and government institutions to support local talent in golf and other disciplines,” Ndawula said.

Who is Herman ‘Deco’ Mutebi?
Born in Lunyo, Entebbe on March 12, 1999, Deco is a rising star in the Ugandan golf scene. He started his golf career in 2009 and turned professional in 2019. Currently, he ranks fifth among 55 Ugandan professional players and has made 16 professional cuts out of 25 events.
Deco is known for his excellent driving range, fairway accuracy and his favourite shot, putting. His achievements include winning the 2015 East African Challenge in Kigali and the 2016 Entebbe Ladies Golf Open, among others.
