Minister of Foreign Affairs Gen Abubaker Jeje Odongo has received credentials of His Excellency Zhang Lizhong, the Ambassador Designate of the Peoples Republic of China.

The ceremony happened on Wednesday morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Head Quarters in Kampala.

Zhang will replace Ambassador Zheng Zhuqiang, whose tour of duty in Uganda ended recently.

The Uganda – Chinese relationship has for the past 10 years been improving with China investing heavily in several of the Ugandan Infrastructure projects.

Notable among the projects includes the construction of the Kampala – Entebbe Expressway by Uganda with funding from the Chinese Exim bank, the upgrade and expansion of the Entebbe International Airport, among others.

The relationship has also seen trade between the two countries blossom. By 2017, both countries trade investments had reached USD 1 billion.
