Residents in Bunamwaaya – Nfuufu, Makindye Ssabagabo are crying foul after floods entered people’s houses, destroying all electronics and household utilities.
The floods flowed a hailstorm that occured on Sunday.
“It is unusual. It majorly was caused by the road consturctors blocked a water channel and thus floods were diverted into our homes.” Said Kassim Kasasa, one of the residents.
The angry dwellers now want Municipal Authorities and the contractor Ali Mubarak to compensate for all their spoilt properties.
“It was solely their negligence. You cannot block a water channel for two weeks without repairing the area. All our electronics are now spoilt. We must have a guarantee that they will pay for all spoilt property immediately,” Richard Mutebi one of the victims says.
Makindye Ssabagabonis currently engaged in the repairs and Upgrade of the Zana – Nfuufu – Sseguku road from a Murrum to tarmac.
More than 67 people have been affected by the floods.
The area Chairperson Richard Matovu said the Municipal Authorities and the contractor to ensure that all people are compensated.
