With over 50 beneficiaries, Entebbe municipality legislator Rose Tumusiime has embarked on a kickstart programme dubbed Nsindika Njake to enable small businesses recover from the adverse effects of the Covid-19 partial lockdown.
The first people to benefit from this initiative are matooke vendors in Nakiwogo market and surrounding areas who received 5 bunches of Matooke each worth Ushs100,000 to rejuvenate their businesses.
The Legislator told Entebbe Post that she has found it more proper to support her constituents through aiding businesses since food relief and handouts don’t last long enough.
We are looking at enabling women reignite their business to support their families, I think this recovery programme can benefit many women. Since Government has not distributed food to Entebbe but these women resiliently stayed working. This is just the beginning and we hope to do better.Hon.Rose Tumusiime
Nakiwogo Market is one of the areas that have been badly hit by both the rising water levels of Lake Victoria and the deadly novel corona virus disease that imposed several restrictions on the locals and leading to many business to crumble.
