Entebbe Muslim County Installs New Leadership

Hajji Sowed Serumaga has been appointed to become the Chairperson of the Entebbe Muslim County.

Sserumaga was appointed to replace Edrisa Figo Matovu who was elected the Entebbe Moslem District Chairperson. Their term of service will expire after two years.

Others elected Muslim leaders include Juma Mukasa (Secretary), Hajji Abdul Noor Ssempungu (Treasurer), Ahmed Kizito (Publicity Secretary) and Rashid Muyingo as the county sheikh.

The new cabinet was installed by the East Buganda Region Muslim Chairperson Hajji Twaha Gwaivu in Entebbe town. Gwaivu cautioned the new leaders to protect and preserve all wealth of the faith within the Municipality.

Serumaga, in his inaugural speech pledged total unity amongst all Muslims within the area. He also started the initiative of buying the county van. More than UGX 10 million was pledged in support of the project through the Friends of Imam’s Initiative.

Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament Rose Tumusiime, advised the new leaders to focus on initiatives that strive for the well being of all Muslims within the area.

The muslim community across the country has been struggling to mediate differences between the main factions led by the Head of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, Mufti Sheik Shaban Ramathan Mubajje and the Supreme Mufti Sheik Suleiman Kasule Ndirangwa.
