Entebbe DPC arrested over defying Presidential Directive on Corona Virus

Police has arrested one of it’s own Entebbe DPC Baker Kawonawo over defying the recent presidential directive to ban open markets in a bid to curb the Corona Virus outbreak.

The revelation was made by police Public relations officer Fred Enanga while speaking to media at the Naguru police head quarters on Wednesday.

Enanga said Kawonawo was arrested after he allowed traders to operate in the open markets after the president had directed banning of the markets for 32 days.

Some of the open markets that have been in operating in Entebbe include kitooro on Tuesday, Namulanda on Wednesday, Abaita Ababiri on Friday, kasenyi on Monday’s and Wax grounds on Saturday among other open markets.

Last Friday the police in Entebbe battled traders at Abaita market amidst resistance but managed to block their operations without use of any teargas or other live ammunitions.

The Entebbe RDC Noah Njuki confirmed that there was no one who was arrested in the operation was successfully amounted.

However unconfirmed reports from a source privy of the arrest carried out on Monday that preferred anonymity said the security boss was arrested for being involved in helping people escape screening for Codiv19.

Recently there were social media allegations had it that some security chiefs were last week conniving with immigration officials at the airport to bypass people (short ) of the normal set screening procedure upon arrival at the airport.

The Police PRO’s statement clarifies on earlier allegations that the DPC was arrested for aiding some foreign national’s to escape from Entebbe airport foregoing screaming and quarantine.
