Entebbe Airport Fire Update: Fighters still failing to put out fire
Authorities at Entebbe International Airport are still failing to put out fire that gutted one of the warehouses within the prescripts of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.
The fire started on Tuesday night as a warehouse with National Medical Stores goods including mosquito nets and drugs.
An employee at the airport who asked not to be named said, all staff at the warehouse were forced to evacuate for the fire brigade to engage in the tiring work of putting out the fire.
“Even up to now, we are failing to know the cause of the fire and why fire fighters are failing on putting it out.” The source said.
The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, in a tweet on Wednesday morning said, the fire incident was a minor one and authorities are still engaging to ensure that it is put out of action.
Thisnis not the first fire incident to threaten Entebbe Airport. A few years ago, aviation security was threatened when fire gutted the fuel park that was close to the airport runway 12/30 prompting immediate action.
The incident comes at a time when the airport just flooded after a heavy downpour. The flooding affected works of the expansion and upgrade of the only functional airport in Uganda.
