The Democratic Governance Facility – DGF has suspended operations in the country pending talks with Government of Uganda.

The Suspension comes weeks after President Yoweri Museveni halted execution of activities of the Democratic Governance Facility after realizing, the institutions Ugx 500 billion didn’t go through a forensic security investigation.

Sources have already linked the DGF to opposition and governance funding prompting anger from the president.

The Finance Minister Matia Kasaija has already declared, Museveni acted on wrong intelligence to close activities of the Democratic Governance Facility.

Now, in an email to all partners, the Democratic Governance Facility says all activities with the different organizations being funded have been suspended for two weeks pending talks between the organization and government.

More than 50 organizations and government agencies including the judiciary are being affected by the suspension of funding by the Democratic Governance Facility.
The DGF is a basket resource envelope for all EU countries trying to fight hard to improve democracy with the country.

The European Union Delegation, a fortnight ago met president Yoweri Museveni at State house – Entebbe where they discussed a host of issues. It is not clear whether the suspension of the DGF funding was part of the discussions between the different leaders.
