DGF, Gov’t of Uganda meet to resolve impasse
Officials from the Government of Uganda led by Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kuteesa and Ambassadors constituting the Demogmcratic Governance Facility on Friday afternoon met to resolve the DGF funding impasse.
Government of Uganda, in January this year suspended up to Ugx 500 billion funding by the DGF citing non compliance of Ugandan laws by the DGF.
President Museveni, in hiss letter to the Finance Minister Particularly cited breach of security mechanisms in the clearance of DGF funding activities.
The organization funds Uganda’s civil society, Judiciary, Police, Prisons and the Ministry of Health.
Now, in a statement published by the Public Affairs department of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the ministry, without divulging details said the two parties had a fruitful meeting aimed at resolving the current impasse.
In February this year, DGF , in an email to all it’s partners said it was by February 14th suspending all funding until government settles the impasse.
