Denis Onyango threatens to quit national team over corruption in FUFA

Uganda Cranes Skipper Denis Onyango has threatened to quit Uganda cranes over alleged corruption by Moses Magogo led Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) after players allowances were swindled.

In an audio recording making rounds on social media, Denis Onyango, who plays his professional football with South African outfit the Mamelodi Sundowns hinted he may not take part in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers after FUFA boss Moses Magogo scathed cranes players who featured in Chan qualifiers for playing what he called “sh**tty” football.

“I am really tired of making money for those Fufa guys, let him (Magogo) start another team and we see those who do not play ’sh**ty’ football and make the money for him.” He said.

In the recording Onyango says he does not have time to play for stupid people (Magogo) who are out to embezzle players funds.

“I do not know who will play for him (Magogo) in the World Cup qualifiers because I do not have the time for that,” he said.

Onyango made the remarks while responding to Magogo who claimed the players should not demand money for their poor Chan show.

During a recent presser at FUFA offices, Magogo said cranes players who featured in Chan were out of order to claim the money since they did not progress from the group stages.

“After the sort of performance that they put out in Cameroon, these players should not even be demanding payment. When you demand money, what have you put on the table? They went there and played sh**ty football and then come back and demand money. Okay, what are you demanding, what have you done? Magogo said.

Onyango’s scrutiny of Magogo comes days after retired cranes player Mike Mutyaba was beaten up by security operatives and arrested by police at FUFA house where he had gone to demonstrate peacefully demanding for cranes players unsettled allowances.

“Mutyaba (Mike) has just exposed them, yes they embezzle players’ funds that is the truth because national team players were supposed to be paid one million shillings each monthly but all in vain,” Onyango says in the audio.
