National Unity Platform(NUP) Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine was roughed up and arrested by the police moments after he was declared a duly nominated candidate by the Electoral Commission on Tuesday.
The NUP party had organised the launch of their manifesto at the party headquarters in Kamwokya, but these plans didn’t materialise.
Kyagulanyi was dragged out of his car after Police broke into the car after the smashing the car wind screen using scanner and other metals.
In the event of his arrest, Party spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi, Kyagulanyi’s head of Security Eddy Mutwe and others were also taken captive.

Upon reaching Kyagulanyi’s Magere home, there was an altercation between the Police and Bobi Wine on his intended destination but he was later forced into his home.
While addressing Journalists, Kyagulanyi said he had been beaten and pepper sprayed in the eyes and he couldn’t see properly.
The others arrested with Kyagulanyi presented without shoes, and torn clothes after they were released by the police.
