Besigye, Bobi Wine in new FUNDA Joint Opposition Coalition

There is a new opposition coalition that is in the formulation, meant to face with President Yoweri Museveni in 2026.

The coalition dubbed the Forum for Uganda National Democratic Alliance will have a composition of the National Unity Platform, FDC – Katonga faction, the DP Block, the UPC Faction and the Alliance for National Transformation.

According to sources from the camps, the coalition which is still under preparation is meant to have NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi as the joint opposition flag bearer while Dr. Kizza Warren Besigye Kifefe as leader of the institution.

Sources that also asked not to be named said, other leaders in the party will include the Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga, Gen Mugisha Muntu, Proscovia Salaam Musumba and Betty AOL Achan as Vice Presidents.

Also the new coalition suggests Erias Lukwago as the FUNDA Chairperson, Olara Otunu as Secretary General while Bayiga Lulume is the proposed Treasurer.

Mr. David Lewis Rubongoya is a proposed Deputy Treasurer while Joel Ssenyonyi remains the institution’s Secretary for Mobilization.

The organization said to be one of the strongest opposition formation meant to oust President Yoweri Museveni from power come 2026 is also contemplating having the different leaders engage in the different ways of winning elections and taking power.

Sources told this website that FUNDA which is currently close to being launched has already become a threat to the ruling Government, especially the first family and the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Norbert Mao, the self proclaimed manager of the Ugandan Transition.

“More than 6 meetings have so far been held to ensure that the formation is not infiltrated or even brought down by money and resources that many opposition parties fight to have,” a source told this website.

Sources from the opposition FDC, Najjanankumbi faction have intimated to this website that the Patrick Oboi Amuriat led FDC have already started blaming Dr. Kizza Besigye for joining the formation saying, he is fighting hard to bring FDC down, punish the current Najjanankumbi leadership of the party.

A highly placed source within the National Unity Platform told this website earlier this week that a new blockbuster, surprise is yet in the offing in the opposition.
