Police in Greater Masaka is hunting for suspected high way robbers who staged fake road block at Kamutuza along Masaka – Kampala road and robbed tens of millions of shillings from travelers.
Security sources told our reporter on Friday morning that an unidentified number of thugs, armed with two guns and dressed in army uniform staged the road block, stopped a number of vehicles and ordered them to surrender all their belongings to them.
“After robbing, they all disappeared from the scene.” A security source said.
Peter Ssenabulya the managing director Birinzi beach who stays around the place says, him and a host of other colleagues feared to get out of their homes to rescue the individuals but, they managed to alert the security personnel about the incident
When contacted, the greater Masaka region police spokesperson Muhmad Nsubuga was not aware of the incident. The greater Masaka Regional Police commander Enock Abaine says that its true armed thugs robbed people at Kamutuza. He also indicated that he has deployed senior officers to hunt for the goons
Abaine appealed to locals to be vigilant all the time while moving at night and also inform the operatives in time so that they can be able to crackdown all illegal officers robbing Ugandans immediately.
